Job Description

The Library Associate is a part-time position consisting of 20 hours per week. This position will assist the Library faculty and work closely with our undergraduate and graduate students. The library staff serves 1,500 traditional undergraduate students and 7,000+ adult and distance learners with a commitment to excellence. Duties include providing Book A Librarian reference and research appointments (in person and Zoom); assisting with ILL management and webpage work as well as other duties and projects. The position's schedule is based on the CCU semester calendar (spring semester begins Jan 17, 2023) and includes a Saturday rotation and one evening/week.

We're looking for candidates who have: 

1. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2. Interest in pursuing a career in librarianship and seeking an MLIS degree.
3. Experience working in a library and doing research.
4. Strong collaboration skills and commitment to teamwork.
5. Flexibility and adaptability.
6. Strong customer service focus.
7. Self motivation and self direction. Takes initiative and completes projects in a timely manner.
8. Ability to balance creativity and practicality.
9. Initiative and follow through.
   
   Main job duties:  

1.     Interacts with the library team in person and via Zoom (meetings and chat)

2.     Serves patrons in person, over the phone and via our chat service (LibraryH3lp)

3.      Provides Book A Librarian (BAL) reference service in person and via Zoom.  The CCU Library has a standardized way of providing BAL appointment services with training provided.   

4.      Assists with Interlibrary Loan requests

5.      Works on online course and subject guides creation using LibGuides

6.      May assist to produce library tutorials using an array of software and web tools

7.      Works collaboratively on a team and independently 

8.      Builds and maintains effective relationships with faculty and students

9.    Performs other duties as assigned
