Job Description
The Greenville Public Library is seeking a part-time digital services and reference assistant. In addition to reference services, this individual will be responsible for presenting technology instruction programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons
- Provide direct assistance to patrons using the public computers
- Assist patrons in accessing digital resources including ebooks and databases
- Plan, promote, and present technology instruction programs for adults
- Assist with event marketing efforts in the library and online
- Create digital and physical promotional displays
- Demonstrate an understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion
- Other duties as assigned by Assistant Director and/or Director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Previous library experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with the public
- Command of current and emerging technologies relevant to library service and programming
- Willing to work both evenings and weekends. Ability to work interdepartmentally
- Schedule flexibility preferred
Skills:
- Commitment to outstanding customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to troubleshoot technology issues, including devices and equipment in-house and with patron devices
- Driven to work on a team as well as independently on assigned projects
- Experience with marketing and managing social media a plus
Hours: approximately 26 hours per week including every other Saturday
Compensation: $20/ hr
