Job Description

The Division of Public Services is hiring a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator with a focus on Community Resources. The DEI Coordinator develops, coordinates, and delivers mental health and community resource services to JCPL. Coordinates community resources on the web, location boards, and communications. Assesses needs, provides services to at-risk patrons and connects patrons with resources and other agencies. Acts as a liaison between Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) patrons and staff to social work agencies and support services. Develops and maintains partnerships with community agencies, vendors and contractors who provide supportive services for patrons and staff. Ensures patron access to supplies and physical resources. Collaborates with mental health resources in law enforcement agencies to bring their expertise to the public library setting. Coordinates community resource navigation for patrons. Recommends supportive services and programs for staff; recommends and leads strategic initiatives related to mental health and supportive services. Position must be familiar with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119, and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, as well as ADA governing public access to space and technology.

  • SUPPORT SERVICES FOR PATRONS: Provides assistance and services to patrons. Assesses and identifies patron needs. Develops recommendations to remove barriers to JCPL services for at-risk patrons. Connects patrons and locations to community resources or other agencies as needed. Evaluates the effectiveness of various public services. Represents JCPL in community groups and local/national task forces with the goal of improving outcomes for library patrons and all residents. 
  • SUPPORT SERVICES FOR STAFF: Develops relationships with community agencies and coordinates and/or provides oversight of contractors and vendors as appropriate. Contributes to organizational effectiveness by working as an integral partner in safety & security initiatives and identifying training needs. 
  • FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Provides input for support service budget and audits spending per established procedures and limits. Participates in annual planning for support services. Provides input for anticipated local and system needs. Ensures compliance with budget limits and established purchasing procedures.
  • DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION: Assists with ongoing development and delivery of culturally responsive and trauma-informed environments and JCPL resources. Supports library DEI services to the community. Works in collaboration with DEI coordinator for Spanish services and other coordinators for outreach opportunities. 
  • INNOTIATIVE & COLLABORATION Creates and maintains a flexible environment for implementing new mental health and support services and trends.  Educates on industry best practices. Communicates staff support service needs to Leadership and Human Resources teams. Prepares and submits routine reports as necessary for JCPL management. Anticipates and solves problems as non-routine situations arise. Supports adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards. Collaborates and coordinates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish JCPL goals and objectives as well as Division goals and objectives. Participates in ongoing professional development. Maintains skills, knowledge, and subject matter expertise in areas of responsibility and industry trends through training and professional development. Attends conferences and participates in development activities.

Required – Bachelor’s in Social Work or Psychology/ Similar Feild

Required - 2 years experience in Social Work

Preferred – Experience coaching and training in trauma-informed services

Preferred – Experience planning programs and services for the public

Preferred – Experience in community engagement with people experiencing homelessness and at risk groups.

Preferred – Experience in Mental Health Services OR Community Resource Management
