
Bibliographic Services Clerk
Role:
Sorts and distributes materials and interoffice mail; processes new materials; mends materials; discards withdrawn materials.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
30% - COURIER AND PROSPECTOR SORTING - Receives deliveries of library materials by answering door, signing for receipt, arranging and sorting shipments and bins, and informing employees of arrival of packages; sorts prospector bins and bundles prospector returns. (Essential)
30% - PROCESSING – Adds barcodes and RFID tags, jackets and covers books, and repackages new and old items. (Essential)
10% - CIRCULATION – Checks in returned materials and sorts and routes the materials to their proper location; runs DSS holds lists and routes materials to their hold locations; prints and processes overdue notices for the district. (Essential)
10%- MENDING AND DISCARDING MATERIALS – Mends and maintains materials in all formats; processes withdrawn materials by updating ILS holdings and properly disposes of physical materials. (Essential)
10% - MAIL DISTRIBUTION - Distributes inter-office mail and USPS mail by placing item in appropriate mailbox, sorts according to destination, and returns mail that is delivered to the wrong address. (Essential)
5% - PACKAGE RECEIVING - Unpacks boxes, checks contents against packing slip, checks for damage, and places new materials on carts for processing. (Essential)
5% - OTHER DUTIES – Shelves books, breaks down boxes, and assists Supervisor with projects and tasks in order to ensure the smooth operation of the department. (Non-Essential)
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High School diploma or GED
Experience:
Skill in arranging materials in numerical and alphabetical order
Skill in basic computer operation
Or any combination of education and experience which provides the success factors.
