Job Description

For hundreds of libraries, the AspenCat discovery layer is the primary place patrons visit to experience and interact with the library, when they aren’t actually in the library (but sometimes there too!).

CLiC’s AspenCat team is seeking an individual who wants to dive under the hood of this essential piece of software, and tinker to tune the engine, thus helping communities all across Colorado connect with resources their library provides.  In a single day the AspenCat Discovery Layer Consultant might customize the interface for Park County Libraries, test a new feature for the Colorado State Penitentiary, or integrate databases into searches for Lamar Community College, or about 1,000 other things including some ILS (Koha) support.  A candidate’s ability to perform an oil change is not required, but savoring the opportunity to make it easier for patrons to get behind the wheel and find what they seek in the library catalog is a must.

Relishing puzzle solving is key, but so is providing friendly and helpful customer service.  While it is hard to get bored on the job when there is always a new challenge, the position’s responsibilities still require someone that can work on a high focus, intensively-detailed task.

Another perk to the job is the opportunity to work with an endless range of talented, enthusiastic, and friendly people throughout Colorado.  Whether it be other AspenCat team members, the larger CLiC staff, and especially all of the hard-working staff running libraries all over Colorado -- there is not a better group of professionals with which to surround yourself.

Our organization provides a humane and supportive work environment, rich in experiential opportunities for people who are eager to learn and who want to do work that matters to the world.  If improving the user experience is intriguing and you agree that it is important, CLiC may be right for you.  Because CLiC’s mission is to serve Colorado libraries, residence in the state of Colorado and alternating Saturday shifts are required for this remote position.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info

CLiC strives to put its employees first.  This isn’t just something we say.  You’ll see evidence of this philosophy at every turn.

How? For starters, the benefits of working at CLiC extend beyond competitive salary — from the customary health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits… to generous vacation, sick and leave policies… competitive and industry-leading investment in individuals’ professional development, stimulating work for every position, generous reimbursement and wellness programs, and more.

But the most important aspect of work at CLiC that differentiates this organization from others: a philosophy geared toward investment in employees as people. We walk the talk: it’s life-work balance, not the reverse. Flexibility, control of one’s own schedule and a commitment to provide employees with whatever tools and resources they need in order to accomplish our mission. That’s how CLiC operates.

Consider working at CLiC, where our culture is built around this concept: our people are our greatest asset, and investment in people is key to our success.

Not all of the places you’ve worked (hello, that’s in your resume…), and not the trite “I’m a hard-working, dependable, enthusiastic, and experienced person who will make a positive contribution to your organization.” If you’re indeed such a person, believe us, we’ll ferret that out.
