Head Librarian/County Librarian – Madison/Canby/Dawson (MN) Public Libraries

Pioneerland Library System, a consolidated regional library system located in west central Minnesota, seeks a Head Librarian with successful public library experience to direct and coordinate the activities of three (3) smaller rural libraries.  Responsibilities include supervision of staff, budgeting, collection development, programming oversight, and all other activities related to the operation and management of multiple libraries.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Experience with supervising and coordinating the work of library personnel.

·         Fundamental knowledge of and experience with library science systems, principles, and procedures.

·         Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their application to library services.

·         Broad knowledge of technology including current trends, best practices and application to library services. 

·         Demonstrated example of leadership and decision making skills/abilities.

·         Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in library science, or related field, and a minimum of two years work experience, including management experience, in a public library or branch library; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the essential duties of the job.  Experience with supervising and coordinating the work of a larger contingent of library personnel is desired. 

Master's degree in Library Science is preferred.    

This Position is Open Until Filled

HOURS: 40 hours per week.  Hiring range: $54,000 - $58,000 + per year DOQ.

Competitive benefit package includes Minnesota Retirement (PERA).
