Job Description

Instruction Assistants provide research help, staff coverage, teach library instruction sessions, and work on special projects at RRCC’s Lakewood and Arvada campuses. 

This position requires a flexible schedule, including one weekday evening (until 9:00 pm, Mondays-Thursdays) and occasional Saturdays (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Instruction Assistants report to the Instruction Librarian.

Description of Position

  • Teach library instruction to English Composition, Communication, and various disciplines on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide research help to RRCC students, faculty, and staff in person, by telephone, email, videoconference (Zoom), and IM reference (LibAnswers).
  • Collaborate with Instruction Librarian to create curriculum materials, including research guides, student learning objective assessments, and/or instructional tutorials.
  • Support general library operations, including coordination of student workers and their daily assigned tasks.
  • Assist with other duties, events, outreach activities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student or have completed a Master's Degree in a library science program.
  • Experience or interest in information literacy.
  • Knowledge of major Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Coursework or professional experience of web-based applications (social media, cloud-based media storage, videoconferencing programs, and learning management systems);
  • Coursework or professional experience in reference.
  • Coursework or professional experience in library instruction, including knowledge of library instruction assessment methods.
  • Experience with video editing and production.
  • Experience generating posts and editing social media content in a professional capacity
  • Interest in working in an academic/health sciences library.
