Job Description

This supervisory librarian position oversees technical services staff responsible for acquisitions, serials management, cataloging, collection maintenance, and e-resource management for materials procured for the Headquarters library and for six satellite libraries located throughout the circuit. In addition, the Head of Technical Services is the circuit library’s primary Acquisitions Librarian, responsible for all related legal resource procurement activities. This position may assist with setting library policies and administration-related projects. This position is in the headquarters Library for the Tenth Circuit in Denver, Colorado.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Master’s degree in library science, or equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution. A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school preferred.

·         At least two years of professional library experience.

·         Ability to handle occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

·         Some travel may be required, especially within the Circuit.

Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of bibliographic metadata standards, rules, and tools; proficiency working with resource discovery tools and link resolvers; proficiency in cataloging legal resources; experience supporting or managing an integrated library system; experience managing procurement, acquisitions and related systems—including budgeting—of legal resources; the ability to oversee and implement purchasing, licensing and facilitating access to e-resources; ability to work with a variety of court personnel, including judges, law clerks, attorneys and others outside the library environment; and display excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. Candidates must excel in a team environment and will be expected to abide by government procurement and audit protocols. Additional duties as assigned.
