Job Description
For those who have experience shining a light on dusty and neglected corners of museums, archives, and library special collections - Westminster Public Library is in the early stages of developing a local history archive and seeking an archive librarian to help us build and preserve a new collection with enduring historical value to serve the Westminster community for generations to come. Early work will include development of an organizational system for collections, both physical and digital, and outreach to departments throughout the City of Westminster to provide support for and when appropriate acquire, accession, and preserve historical materials.
The ideal candidate has a passion for professional archival work and dedication to ensuring access and engagement for community members and curious researchers. Job responsibilities include establishing archival policy and practices, creating safe preservation space for existing collections, accession/deaccession of materials, exhibit creation and management, programming and engagement with the community, building community partnerships, and managing accompanying budgets. This position falls within the Collection Management team, based at the College Hill Library, and will work collaboratively as needed.
The Westminster Public Library has two libraries with two distinct personalities. We serve 119,000 residents with a population of diverse socioeconomics, generational, and cultural backgrounds. We are perfectly placed in the corridor between Denver and Boulder.
This is a temporary full-time benefitted position, currently funded for 3 years, although funds may be extended based on demonstrated successes.
