Job Description

Position Summary

For this role, we are seeking an Engagement Manager who is passionate about leading the development and implementation of employee engagement efforts across the organization, including those affecting employee wellbeing, in order to promote org-wide culture evolution. This role will support the expansion of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement team and will also contribute to DPL’s developmental success through the following job responsibilities:

You have:

Knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias, and institutional racism. Knowledge and understanding of culture, customs, and social experiences of communities suffering from marginalization, inequities of opportunity, and access to public goods and services.

An empathetic perspective. Can think and act both strategically and operationally. You embrace open-mindedness, curiosity, and continuous improvement; are able to flex and pivot given diverse circumstances; demonstrate high emotional intelligence and are an excellent communicator. 

Ability to tolerate ambiguity and be comfortable engaging in self-driven activities; demonstrated personal initiative, follow-through, and accountability.

Advanced ability to establish and maintain culturally effective working relationships with individuals from various groups and backgrounds, which include employees, team members, and community members.   

Experience developing and maintaining multi-year work plans in alignment with organizational goals.

Demonstrated experience working with an internal employee engagement team with identifiable successful outcomes.

Demonstrated skills in project and program design, implementation, management, and evaluation in a complex organization with a diverse workforce.

Ability to manage dynamic and challenging conversations; experience applying mediation practices, restorative practices, and leading difficult conversations.

Experience implementing change management processes and cultivating a healthy change management culture.

Bachelor's Degree in public administration, human resources, administration, cross-cultural communication, organizational development, diversity management, or a related field required.

Three (3) years of professional experience working in the field of racial and gender equity, gender/diversity inclusion, employee experience, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), social justice, and/or racial/gender policy development or related field required.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.

Equivalency: Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers depend on qualifications and typically do not exceed the midpoint. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours.

$80, 371 - $93,431

Managing an internal communications plan for the EDI&E department.

Analyze and interpret well-being data from multiple sources to inform engagement planning and appropriate health-related topics.

Support the collection, evaluation, and analysis of staff engagement data to inform the evolution of DPL's strategic organizational development.

Ensure effective management of the assigned budget resources to maximize employee benefit.

Utilize an equity lens to oversee, assess, and design effective and responsive programming for employees. This includes management of our current wellness offerings for staff.

In collaboration with the Staff Engagement Committee, design and deliver education and training events (virtual and in-person) that support DPL’s goals and Strategic Roadmap.

Design, coordinate, launch, and promote employee engagement programs, initiatives, and events across DPL for increased engagement, participation, and visibility. This includes helping guide and oversee staff employee affinity groups.

Manage a team of Engagement specialists and support the expansion of the EDI&E team.

Build strong, trustworthy working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and a wide range of stakeholders and customers.
