Job Description

Jefferson County Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in learning and development, training and development, and/or technical training to join the People and Culture team as the technical trainer. This individual will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training and development programs and resources and curriculum for JCPL employees. This individual will work closely with the Technology and Innovation team to introduce new technology to the organization and prepare staff to be effective in utilizing it. This individual will also collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization to develop JCPL specific trainings to ensure staff are proficient in software and hardware specific to libraries. The technical trainer will have opportunities to design and deliver trainings that take place in person and virtually and to develop asynchronous trainings through Articulate, Camtasia, and other learning design programs. This individual will report to the training and development manager and work alongside the training specialist to develop a robust and consistent training program at JCPL. 

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule that would allow working from home for an estimated 50% of work hours. After the initial onboarding period, onsite work will be required when facilitating in person trainings and occasional team meetings.

Hiring Range: $54,978.32 - $70,097.36 Annually

  • Develop training courses and presentations on various subject matter.  Develop classroom exercises and activities to enhance learning experience.  Create training materials including educational and experiential activities.
  • Deliver training courses utilizing best practice methods.  Facilitate classroom exercises and activities.  Encourage participant engagement and interaction using various training techniques.  Deliver lectures and presentations.
  • Perform training needs assessments and coordinates in-house training efforts.
  • Deliver training, presentations, and lectures both internally and externally to employees, managers, leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Track and maintain staff training participation data.  Create and track pre and post evaluation and training assessments.
  • Design content for online learning systems.  May load training programs and materials into E-learning tools and software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required - Bachelor’s degree or commensurate professional experience.
  • Required - Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Preferred - 3 or more years' professional experience in teaching OR training & development OR adult education in both in-person and virtual environments.
  • Preferred -2 years' experience in the creation and production of curriculum and training materials.
