Job Description
Position Type: Hourly, 25 hours per week
Reports to: Associate Director of Library Services and Archives
Position Summary: This position is responsible for all aspects of supervising and operating the St. George’s School Archives and Special Collections. The responsibilities apply, but are not limited, to those items defined and listed in the separate Collection Plans.
Responsibilities:
- Process, arrange, and describe new acquisitions and current collections in accordance with SAA or other professional standards.
- Maintaining a detailed digital record of the St. George's School Archives and Special Collections.
- Providing any research efforts that might be deemed necessary to support ongoing projects to the school community and the Board of Trustees, and secondarily to support requests of alumni and the wider community.
- Fulfilling and documenting all required administrative procedures deemed required for the effective operation of the Archives
- Supporting student and faculty access to the Archives through research appointments, document or object handling training, and class instruction.
- Recruit, train, and utilize volunteers from the student population and wider St. George’s community in support of the Archives.
- Collaborate with library staff to promote the collections through social media content, small exhibitions, and other outlets.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, MLS preferred
- School history and archive experience preferred
- Ability to determine what items are appropriate for inclusion to the accomplishment of the School’s mission statement
- Ability to manage and prioritize requests from both internal and external researchers and donors
- Experience with Google for Educators, Microsoft Office, and databases is desirable
- Must able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Must be able to work independently
- Candidate must pass nationwide criminal record check
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift equipment and packages up to 9 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders.
- Must be able to spend a large portion of the work day standing and moving

This is a 9-month position that does not include full benefits.
