The Community

The two towns you'll be serving are beautiful but distinct. Kiowa is the county seat of Elbert County, a ranching area that's feeling growth to its west and north. Along with the historic county courthouse building, Kiowa is also home of Elbert County Fairgrounds. The Kiowa Library is also historic: it is a beautiful old church, now a designated landmark. The town of Elbert was founded around 1860, originally for lumber milling. Elbert still retains its timbered charm, including a variety of historic buildings. The Elbert Library is in a shared space within the Elbert School, a preschool through 12th grade building completed in 2014. The Elbert Library manager works closely with school staff to provide excellent service to both students and adults.
