Children’s Library Assistant
The Jesse M. Smith Library has an opening for a children’s department library assistant. This position provides direct services to children and their families. Responsibilities include answering patron reference questions, providing reader’s advisory, assisting children’s librarians in developing programs for children and their families, providing digital literacy services to the public, and assisting in maintaining juvenile collections.
This is an 18 hour per week part time position with no benefits. Some nights and weekends are required.
A high school diploma or equivalency is required. A college degree is preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to work independently, exemplary customer service skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent computer skills and experience working with children. Experience working in a library setting preferred. Salary: $19 per hr.
