Job Description

The Springfield City Library seeks applications for a full-time Children's Librarian in the Children's Room. The Central Library is the heart of our busy library system. Come work at our forward-looking, award-winning public library. We are recruiting talented, community-engaged candidates for this full-time, 37.5 hours a week job. 

The Children's Librarian is part of a four person team and is responsible for collection development of print and non-print materials, programming, reference services, outreach, community engagement, and similar duties pertaining to children’s services, and assisting in developing and providing system-wide children’s services. Additional Info & Requirements

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Master's of Library Science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered. You'll need an excellent customer service orientation; and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language). The Community

The Central Library opened to the public in 1912. Admire its historic architecture and make use of our Community Room, Computer Lab, Art Wall, new Teen Space, and dedicated children's program room to offer services and programs for visitors.
