The Middletown Public Library is looking for a 20 or 25 hours per week Library Assistant to join our fabulous team! Work in our small but busy library in an exciting time in MPL history - getting to help design and imagine a new library of our dreams!

This job might be for you if:
-Your customer service and librarianship is people-centered.
-You have interest and/or experience with ordering, receiving, processing, and collection management.
-You have interest and/or knowledge on the current trends in libraries today.
-Your public service is rooted in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community. 

Qualifications
This role will be filled by a high school graduate, preferably with two years of college and/or library experience.

Schedule is 20 or 25 hours per week and includes nights and weekends – most likely closing one night a week and working every other Saturday on rotation, as well as at least one Sunday per month at a premium rate. A regular work week is 5 days per week, which will either be 4 or 5 hours per shift depending on if the right candidate can work 20 hours or 25 hours per week.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info

Salary is in accordance with established pay scale, and is $16 an hour to start.

This is a part time position within the Middletown Public Library Employees Association / NEARI Union, and includes paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.
