Job Description
We are seeking an individual to help answer patrons’ research questions, suggest materials to read, teach about library resources and provide dynamic customer service to patrons. You will use problem-solving and people skills to provide swift resolutions to patron problems with computers, mobile devices and software. Must have superior customer service and demonstrate proficient technology and computer skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES
· Interprets, communicates, and implements library policies and procedures to patrons; using informed judgment and flexibility as required.
· Responds to inquiries and assists patrons locating books and other library items.
· Plans, directs, and/or assists in both on-site and off-site library programming and special events including book discussions, Creation Station programs, teaching technology to groups and/or one-on-one, and other programs or classes.
· Quickly diagnose technology issues and explain appropriate resolutions.
· Provides a variety of technology services, such as helping patrons use the online catalog, databases, software programs, and downloadable media; helping patrons use library equipment - computers, printers, copiers; helping patrons use their own devices - mobile devices, computers, apps, etc.
· May perform duties as a Notary Public.
· Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of public library experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Retail experience a plus.
