Job Description
As a Supervisory Librarian, you will perform the following duties:
- Direct the development and operation of the Boulder Labs Library (BLL) to provide a wide range of information support services. Implement and adjust programs and systems to meet client needs. Formulate and enact division policies and regulations. Interpret the needs of users and assume responsibility for the soundness, adequacy, and extent of the library collection. Establish and maintain statistical reporting systems to provide data for evaluation.
- Exercise authority over division planning, budgeting, and staffing. Prepare and justify the annual budget. Adjust budgets and expenditures based on accounting reports and user needs. Ascertain equipment needs and prepare necessary justifications and documents for acquiring equipment. Approve invoices for payments and purchase orders. Perform cost-benefit analyses for the internal operations of the division.
- Coordinate with the BLL Advisory Committee and contact key laboratory personnel and stakeholders regarding division policies and services. Liaise with other scientific information centers to ensure coordination and the effective use of available resources. Coordinate BLL activities with other Department of Commerce, university, and research libraries.
- Serve as supervisor, planning and distributing work to be accomplished by subordinates. Provide advice and instruction on work and administrative matters. Develop employee goals and training needs, job performance standards, evaluate and address poor performance. Recommend appointments, promotions, reassignments, and administer awards.
