Job Description

The North Kingstown Free Library seeks a dynamic, team-oriented librarian who will serve as Communications and Access Services Coordinator with responsibility for coordinating efforts to communicate with library users, staff, and community partners; and who will ensure optimum access to the library's programs, services and resources. 

In the area of Communications, this librarian will be responsible for: coordinating the overall design and local maintenance of the library web page, working with the team of senior librarians to make sure the web page provides optimum access to the library's services; designing and publishing the library newsletter, in both print and digital formats, working collaboratively with librarians and staff to put it together; coordinating publicity and marketing for the library in all forms and formats; preparing reports for administrative staff in preparing reports; preparing training and education materials for staff and library users; and devising systems for data collection and analysis. 

In the area of Access Services, this librarian will be responsible for: coordinating efforts across library departments to develop, plan, organize, and conduct a wide variety of programs, activities, and exhibits; maintaining the library's events and meeting room calendars; overseeing the use of the meeting rooms by community organizations; designing, planning, and providing education and training opportunities for improving technology literacy; supporting the staff and library users in the use of the library's digital resources and technology platforms; and leading a team of library staff to assist our outside technology providers in troubleshooting and maintaining the library's technology platforms.

This librarian will be a leader and a manager who fosters collaboration and team-building across departments and will participate in providing direct library service at all public desks, including shelving, as needed.  

Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited post-secondary institution and public library experience is required.

Full-Time, 35 hours/week, with some evening and weekend hours required. 

Annual Salary is 51,421 to 61,228 with health, dental, retirement, and life insurance benefits as well as vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.
