POSITION TITLE: Head of Youth Services
DEPARTMENT: Youth Services GRADE: 8 FLSA: Exempt FTE: 1.0
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Performs all duties related to managing Youth Services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works independently under the direct supervision of the Associate Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Librarians, Library Associates, Library Assistants, Volunteers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Oversee Youth Services, including
· Ensure that expert friendly assistance is provided to all patrons.
· Ensure that YS staff have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent service.
· Oversee the implementation, maintenance and training of new technology and digital resources that serve youth.
· Work closely with the Youth Collections Librarian to ensure that youth collections meet the needs of our community.
· Continually maintain physical spaces to be attractive, engaging, safe and comfortable.
· Schedule personnel and resources, organize and establish priorities, and coordinate staff activities for optimum patron benefit.
· Plan, prepare and administer a budget for purchases needed to meet goals and objectives of the Department.
· Make use of volunteers to extend and enhance the service capacity of the youth services team.
· Work with community organizations and volunteers as a resource for developing, promoting and extending library services.
2. Youth Programming, Activities and Outreach, including
· In collaboration with the Programming team and Branch teams, develop programs and services that meet the diverse needs of youth in our community.
· Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for library programming.
· Provide training, resources and coaching to youth services staff.
· Lead and/or participate in programming committees.
· Assist with the ongoing evaluation of youth programs.
· Provides staffing and activities for outreach events.
· Oversee the creation and promotion of Take and Make kits and other passive programming activities.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info
This full-time position includes a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and supplemental insurance coverages as well as HRA and retirement savings. Benefits include vacation and sick leave, and 12 paid holidays.
