Job Description
The Town has an exciting Librarian position available within the South Kingstown Public Library. The Library Division is accepting applications for the position of Public Services Librarian. This full time position will work across the various Town libraries on Monday through Wednesday 12pm to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm. During the summer season the hours will be Monday and Wednesday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday 10am to 6pm, Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
This professional position is focused on all matters of public services with a large role in Reference and Circulation duties, including assisting patrons with the on-line catalog, various databases, the Internet, and general technology. Under the general supervision of a senior librarian, the Public Services Librarian will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in needed departments or locations; assisting in the execution of library procedures related to circulation and reference services; providing reference and reader’s advisory assistance to adults, young adults and children by locating information and recommending materials. Team member will be responsible for being lead staff when necessary and to communicate any concerns to the Library Director. This position will assist with collection development and maintenance duties; answering reference questions received by email or mail; and communicate library system plans, policies and procedures to the general public.
To qualify you must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited graduate program. Two or more years of work of reference experience preferred. This position requires a valid state driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to employment. Must also be dependable, detail oriented, and have a pleasant, helpful manner. The position pays $26.71 per hour and after successful completion of a six month probationary period will increase to $27.47 per hour.

Benefits & Additional Compensation Info
The position pays $26.71 per hour and after successful completion of a six month probationary period will increase to $27.47 per hour.
