The Jesse M. Smith Library has an opening for a reference library assistant. This position provides direct reference services to patrons. Responsibilities include answering patron reference questions in person and via email, phone or mail, assisting in processing interlibrary loan requests, providing reader’s advisory and digital literacy services to the public, and assisting in the development of programming.
This is an 18 hour per week part time position with no benefits. 1 night shift, 1 morning shift and alternating Friday/Saturday are required.
A high school diploma or equivalency is required. A college degree is preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to work independently, exemplary customer service skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, good communications skills and excellent computer skills. Must be comfortable working with the public in busy situations. Experience working in a library setting preferred.
Salary: $18 to $20 per hr. depending on qualifications.
