The Access Services Librarian is a department-head level position. This position coordinates the operations of the Access Services department, including circulation, reserves, interlibrary/intercampus loan, and copyright, and provides innovative and collaborative leadership for the department. This position oversees stacks management, building management and building access. A member of the library leadership team, the Access Services Librarian establishes departmental policies and procedures and with the Dean of the Library and other department heads establishes goals for the library. This promotion-track, faculty position works closely with all library departments. Duties and responsibilities are understood in reference to the terms and conditions set forth in the Library Faculty Handbook.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
Required Experience:
Evidence of strong attention to detail.
Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work well with a culturally diverse user population.
Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
Minimum two years of circulation and/or interlibrary loan experience; experience in both areas desirable.
Minimum three years of professional library experience. Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience:
Evidence of copyright management.
Bilingual in Spanish and English

Faculty rank is decided at the time of hire commensurate with experience as a librarian at a full-time regionally accredited college or university (or its equivalent).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
