We are actively recruiting for a Librarian who would be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and implementing the day-to-day digital literacy strategies for Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources (LHR). This includes user experience, training, developing digital content for external and internal customers, and the planning, overseeing and coordinating of the system-wide Creation Stations (examples include 3D printers, Glowforge machines, Cricuts, etc.). About the Position

In this role you will be responsible for...

Creation Stations

Provide leadership in the coordination of system-wide Creation Station policies and procedures.

Work closely with Adult, Youth and Outreach Library services to develop and provided Creation Station related programming for patrons of all ages.

Be familiar with and operate common Creation Station equipment including 3D printers, Glowforge machines, Cricut and other similar equipment.

Develop and train staff and patrons on relevant equipment.

Assist patrons with the use of Creation Station equipment.

Represent LHR outside of the library at community events.

Make recommendations for new or replacement equipment or services.

Monitor and facilitate the purchase of new equipment and services for Creation Stations.

Demonstrate an interest in and ability to use and troubleshoot technology of all kinds.

Keep informed of trends and issues related to Creation Stations and makerspace technology.

Track expenses related to Creation Station equipment and maintenance.

As needed, facilitate repairs and updates with third party IT vendors.

Digital Platforms

Assist with monitoring and insuring LHR digital content is current, consistent with established style guides and functions properly.

Serve as the Departments point person for user training, writing, editing and proofing content, troubleshooting department’s digital platforms.

Help to plan for future enhancements to the Department’s digital presence by staying current with software and processes to enhance the user experience. Report back to the team with opportunities and proposals to improve the Department’s digital presence.

Responsible for the design and function of the Departments digital training platforms.

Plan, generate and manage digital content, coordinate efforts of others in content development, network with other libraries, professionals and community groups for technology, input, and awareness of needs and trends.

Coordinate with staff and stakeholders to review and publish content.

Create graphics for digital enhancement.

Assist team and attend meetings to support content development at the library level.

Respond to user questions and troubleshooting library-related apps and platforms.

Training and Analytics

Support and facilitate frontline staff and patrons with the instruction of digital literacy skills.

Create monthly analytics reports, translating anecdotal and qualitative data into recommendations.

Continuously assess user interfaces and user experience.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time, 40 hours / week.

Sunday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:15 p.m.

Must be available to work during operating hours for the library - including some nights and weekends. 

Employee may be re-assigned to a different work location (other than original assignment) within the library system to meet changing service needs on occasion.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) from a college/university accredited by the American Library Association.

-OR- Bachelor's Degree and enrolled in an MLS/MLIS program with the ability to obtain an MLS/MLIS within twelve (12) months from date of hire.

Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year experience in a public library including library supervisory experience.

Two (2) years' experience as a Librarian.
