Job Description

Title: COORDINATOR, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Location: ​Support Services, 12855 E. Adam Aircraft Circle, Englewood, CO 80112​

Reports to: Manager, Community Engagement

FLSA Status: ​Exempt

Pay Range: $24.20 - $30.25 hour

Purpose: Facilitates and executes community engagement activities; builds and maintains internal and external relationships to expand engagement/partnership opportunities and to further community relations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

75% ENGAGEMENT AND RELATIONSHIP DUTIES:

  • Develop, coordinate, facilitate and evaluate community engagement activities to support ALD's strategic initiatives.
  • Build relationships in local communities to enhance community engagement, ALD's reputation and the community's understanding of Arapahoe Library District services
  • Represent Arapahoe Library District at public events and community meetings
  • Participate in community presentations and other speaking engagement opportunities
  • Liaise with internal departments to facilitate partnership activities
  • Coordinate and expand partnerships for the Exploration Pass membership program, increasing the number of participating agencies and handling renewal/payments for membership
  • Solicit the community to find new agreements with cultural institutions to add services for our patrons

25% OPERATIONS:

  • Coordinate logistics for engagement and partnership activities
  • Design and deliver presentations, workshops, and trainings to raise awareness and engagement on various topics and issues.
  • Maintain a database of contacts, resources, and opportunities for community involvement.
  • Monitor and report on the outcomes and impact of community engagement and partnership activities.
  • Develop internal processes, guidelines, and policies for the department to provide a professional and consistent experience for stakeholders
  • Draft partnership MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding)
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Engage in professional development and educational opportunities via participation in community and professional organizations, as well as internal committees and teams
  • Participate in special projects as assigned, such as new initiatives and public events

Performs other related duties as assigned and requested

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • May participate in committee work

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of similar or related professional experience in community partnerships, public relations or a similar field, with a proven track record of successful collaborations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; an attentive and active listener who is respected and comfortable working with people of various backgrounds, perspectives and cultures.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships, internally with staff at all levels, and externally, with community partners, business leaders, government personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently, determine and adjust work priorities as needed and complete tasks in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Ability to think analytically; have good attention to detail and accuracy in work including creativity; resourcefulness and initiative. Good decision making; multi-tasking and planning skills to successfully accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including responsibility for outcomes, personal productivity, practical and critical thinking, adaptability, interpersonal skills and business ethics.
  • Ability to act as a key representative and ambassador of Arapahoe Library District by promoting its mission and vision to the public, whether during presentation, meetings or other interactions.
  • Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Outlook, customer relationships management platforms, and standard office equipment.
  • Proven ability to organize people and information, with strong project and time management skills.
  • Assists in executing the strategic decisions made for the department by suggesting workflows and managing multiple activities and resources.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.



 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working with public information in a library or nonprofit setting.



 

Work Environment: 

  • Ability to travel between facilities and work varying shifts, including some morning hours, evenings and weekends. 
  • The essential duties for this position are performed in an indoor office environment.
  • Moderate noise (computers, phones, printers and patron interactions).
  • Ability to work both inside and outside in all types of inclement weather conditions. 

Physical Activities:

Physical activities required to perform essential duties include:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position ​50-75%​of the time. 
  • Must be able to move around ​25-50%​ of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to ​20 lbs​
  • Ability to carry up to ​20 lbs​

Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
