Job Description

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for management of the library’s electronic resources, which includes managing the selection, acquisition, cataloging/preservation, and assessment of resources in all formats.
• Collaborate with the Dean of the Library to manage the annual e-resources materials budget and information resources expenditures.
• Work with publishers and vendors to negotiate and maintain electronic resource licenses and contracts, manage database subscriptions, purchase orders, and electronic licensing agreements; resolve related problems as needed.
• Work with library colleagues to set e-resources policies, workflows, and procedures.
• Collaborate with other librarians to provide expert advice to the library and campus on online information resources.
• Evaluate and recommend e-resources, demonstrations or trial subscriptions for librarian and faculty evaluation.
• Provide training on e-resources for librarians and staff; create LibGuides and research aids in other formats for assigned liaison areas.
• Collaborate with the Emerging Technologies and Systems Librarian to update knowledgebases, proxies, reference linking systems, and discovery interfaces as necessary (EBSCO, EZProxy, etc.).
• Collaborate with the Library Administrative Services Coordinator to ensure that vendor invoices are paid in a timely manner.
• Collect statistics on resource usage in all formats. Collaborate with librarians and library administration to conduct ongoing assessment of collections.
• Serve as a liaison to one or more departments/programs.
• Actively engage in professional development activities as required for promotion and tenure.

The Clement C. Maxwell Library is open an average of 94 hours each week during the academic year. It is a busy, dynamic place with classrooms, academic and administrative offices throughout the building. The library serves all BSU students, faculty, staff, researchers from across the country and world, as well as the residents of the surrounding communities.
