Job Description

Performs professional duties including programming for children and families; answers readers' advisory and general questions; maintain collection management; and additional functions in specialty area of responsibility. Reports to Division Manager.

The salary range for this position is $25.07- $33.84 per hour with a hiring range of $25.07 - $29.45, depending on qualifications and experience.

Build with LEGOS, teach technology, provide Outreach, develop programs, create displays, and select titles for older children while working with a fantastic team of librarians in the beautiful city of Loveland, CO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement, promote and evaluate story times, elementary age programming and outreach events within the community virtually and in-person.
  • Prepare, organize and deliver literacy and enrichment programs and services with collaborative community partners for children and families.
  • Provide customer service, technology assistance and reader’s advisory for children and their families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Guide library patrons in the effective use of library services and resources.
  • Responsible for collection development.
  • Utilize technology and various communications programs daily for programming, marketing, and administrative duties.
  • Serve as a liaison on different cross community boards, library and city committees.
  • Initiate, negotiate and secure collaborative partnerships with local community partners for the purpose of providing literacy and enrichment programs.
  • Connect patrons to necessary community resources available for and related to children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education:

  • 4 year/Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science or Master's Degree in related field such as Public Administration, Education, or Social Work.

Required Experience:

  • 1 year Progressively responsible library or related field experience working with children.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must posses a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of standard library operating procedures, methods and philosophies.
  • Background and knowledge of literature, media and library services to young people.
  • Ability to work with and relate to children of all ages, identities and backgrounds and their caregivers.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in providing story times, programs and public presentations to groups of varying ages.
  • Strong presentation skills and general knowledge of computer and Microsoft office tools.
  • Work independently, multi-task, meet deadlines and to constructively problem solve.
  • Incorporates Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in all operations.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity working with patrons, coworkers, and the community.
  • Welcomes diverse populations, including but not limited to cultural, racial, economic, and ethnic diversity.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
  • Occasional exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
  • Frequent exposure to routine office noise and equipment.
