Job Description

Join our dynamic library team dedicated to fostering a love for learning, reading, and exploration among the youth in our community. We are a forward-thinking organization committed to providing early literacy resources to children and their caretakers, innovative programming, and resources tailored to the diverse needs and interests of children and teenagers.

We're seeking a Youth Services Coordinator for our Carbondale Branch Library. We're looking for someone enthusiastic about promoting literacy, lifelong learning, and engagement with library resources for children and teens. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and implement engaging programs, curate collections, and provide personalized assistance to young library patrons.

The person who fills this role will have the opportunity to join the Carbondale team, a group of individuals who are talented, dedicated, creative, and enthusiastic about serving the public. The Youth Services Coordinator provides front-line customer service to patrons in the library and assists the Branch Manager in all areas of public library services; creates and implements programs, classes, and events for children and youth ages zero to 18; develops, monitors, and maintains the children, tweens, and young adult collections; performs youth-related community outreach; and performs related work as required.

The Youth Services Coordinator collaborates with the District's youth services team in support of system-wide events and; contributes positively to the District's culture of trust and respect both internally and externally.

The hiring pay range for this position is $22.88 - $25.22, and the full pay range for this position is $22.88 - $29.20 (placement dependent on experience and qualifications); excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision; we offer a pay increase for demonstrated proficiency in the Spanish language;

Education and Experience

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. The following education and experience is required:


 

  • Relevant bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of four (4) years of education and experience, and;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience educating children and/or working with youth development programs or initiatives.

Additionally, the following is preferred:

  • Master's in Library Science
  • Experience working in a library
  • Experience working with teens
  • Bilingual in Spanish or another language
