Job Description
This is a specialist level position, which provides support for library computers and software. Work is performed independently, as a team, and under the supervision of the Library Services Coordinator (Automation Services). This position may require some evening and weekend hours and to be on-call for evening and weekend emergencies. Incumbent must be available to work evening or weekend hours as needed.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks
1. Creates and maintains the library’s web pages, including:
- Keeping social media and mobile technology up-to-date
- Providing access to online library databases
- Customizing existing pages and launching new library web pages as needed.
- Creating graphics and writing, editing, proofing new web content.
- Communicating details about policy changes or new services to staff and the public
- Writing, editing, and decoding HTML and CSS.
2. Maintains, upgrades, and modifies the integrated library system (ILS), including
- Understanding of all aspects of the ILS and associated modules
- Collaborating with staff to make improvements or changes to the ILS as necessary or required
- Working with the ILS vendor on necessary changes, perform troubleshooting, or implement new modules
3. Provides:
- Research, testing, customization, and implementation of new online services and software.
- Support for library technology, including hardware, software, and services for library staff and patrons
- Assistance and support for other Automation Services projects and staff as needed
- Automation Services emergency support
- Support for library meeting rooms for both staff and the public
- Training, including:
- Onboarding training for new staff
- Creating training materials to be used by the staff as well as the public for new and existing library resources and systems
- Statistical data and reports from various library systems as needed.
- Completion of work tickets as assigned using the Bugzilla work request system
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
4. Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Transports computer equipment to and from remote locations as needed
2. Maintains the integrity of various library systems
3. Follows library-related laws on filtering and patron privacy
4. Adapts and responds to the ever-changing nature of technology to meet future library needs
Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications
Required:
- 18 years of age or older
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
- Experience with computer troubleshooting and installation
- Two years of library experience, preferably in the Automation Services or IT department
- Valid driver's license with safe driving record
Preferred:
- More than two (2) years of experience in an IT department
- One year or more of HTML coding experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
