Reporting to the Access Services Manager, this position is responsible for two main areas; processing and quality control of Course Reserve and Ask Us collection materials and serving library users by working at the two Ask Us Desks in the library. Course Reserves and Ask Us Collection functions include receiving materials from campus faculty/ purchases, processes these materials into circulation software and apply appropriate circulation processes. Provide appropriate record-keeping and documentation for materials on these collections.

This position will serve as the library opener most days and will need to work scheduled desk shifts. Desk functions include being able to provide great customer service to all users, answer a variety of questions about the library, campus, and surrounding Denver area; perform circulation functions in Sierra; and rove the first and second floor of the library to help patrons in need. On occasion the schedule can be flexible as this position provides coverage for other staff as needed.  Actively participates in library committees and departmental meetings as needed.

What you will do

Ask Us Desk Service:

·         Perform opening duties daily to ensure the building and spaces are ready for users and staff.

·         Meet user needs by answering directional questions about the library and campus, technology troubleshooting, handling circulation transactions, checking book drops, and providing first-tier reference, while providing a high level of customer service.

·         Serve as staff point-person during desk shifts to answer phone calls and emails, solve customer concerns, support student workers and staff by providing training, and resolve conflicts regarding library procedures and policies. Reports on any facilities issues that occur during regular business and communicates them to colleagues.

·         Takes direction from department leadership to ensure clear and consistent implementation of circulation policies and procedures.

Ask Us Collection Processing and Maintenance:

·         Works within unit to maintain and curate the Ask Us collection by receiving, logging, and processing purchased materials. This position serves to be an expert in all items in the collection.

·         Provides appropriate record keeping, uses Sierra circulation software to process materials, and conducts annual inventory of collection and report findings to Access Services Manager.

·         Helps create an annual proposal with recommendations for removal and replacement, which will reflect the assessed needs of the Auraria users.

·         Tests and troubleshoots all technology to ensure items are clean and function properly.

·         Keeps all documentation/signage/marketing materials up to date and proposes needed changes to Access Services Manager.

·         Work with Access Services Manager to market the collection to library users.

Course Reserves Collection Processing and Maintenance:

·         Works within unit to maintain the Course Reserve collection by receiving, logging, and processing materials from faculty; submits purchase requests for items not owned.

·         Provides appropriate record keeping, uses Sierra circulation software to process materials, ensures that copyright requirements are met, and makes sure records are findable in library catalog.

·         Communicating with faculty regarding the status of their requests and removing items from Course Reserves to return to their original collection/owner.

·         Communicates with work unit/department to resolve any issues or implement improvements with processes. Conducts annual inventory of collection and report findings to Access Services Manager.

Additional duties:

·         Work on special projects within library or unit; may serve on library-wide committees.

·         Promote a positive work environment and lead by example.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range(or hiring range) for this position has been established at $51,132 - $55,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications):

·         A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

·         One year of customer service experience.

Substitutions: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications):

·         One year of library or higher education experience.

·         Experience with Sierra or another integrated library system (ILS) and other library systems/applications.

·         Experience in a library environment in at least one of the following areas: circulation, physical course reserves, e-reserves, and/or reference.

·         Bilingual.

·         Experience serving users with disabilities.

·         Experience serving users in a high paced environment.

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
