Job Description

OhioLINK seeks an Electronic Resource Analysis Librarian to serve as part of the OhioLINK team managing electronic resources for OhioLINK libraries.

OhioLINK is Ohio’s statewide academic library consortium, delivering both IT infrastructure and content negotiation to provide students, faculty, researchers and staff with access to valuable digital research collections at a fraction of the cost if those collections had to be purchased by individual institutions.

The Electronic Resource Analysis Librarian

The successful applicant must be able to become broadly knowledgeable regarding OhioLINK's workflows for resource management and open access processes and be able to communicate this information via verbal and written formats. The individual in this position must have excellent attention to detail, planning and time-management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The successful applicant also must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Initiative and creativity in solving problems and planning projects and analyses are needed for this position.

This position will report to the Associate Director for Licensing & Analytics of OhioLINK at the Ohio Technology Consortium main office, located on The Ohio State University's West Campus.

  • Works collaboratively across many departments within OhioLINK and OH-TECH.
  • Works with vendors, OhioLINK staff and member teams to configure systems, troubleshoot problems and perform analyses about consortium electronic resources and open access.
  • Liaises with vendors in obtaining and verifying electronic resource and open access publishing data.
  • Communicates electronic resource and open access program information to members.
  • Will be responsible for managing configuration and data for electronic resources and open access processes in systems used by OhioLINK, including the member portal, knowledge bases, publisher systems and the library services platform used by the consortium.

Additional Info & Requirements

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience with electronic resource management in libraries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of current models, practices and tools used by academic libraries for the management of electronic resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Two years of experience with software relevant to electronic resource management, for example: Link resolvers, Discovery services, Library services platforms, Electronic resources management software (ERMS), Usage statistics.
  • Two years of experience with library data and metadata standards such as COUNTER, KBART and MARC.
  • Knowledge of data management practices.

Desired Education/Experience:

  • Master of Library and Information Science.
  • Experience in library or business analysis techniques and tools (such as Tableau, R, OpenRefine).
  • Experience with electronic resource management in a consortium or shared environment.
  • Knowledge of current trends in scholarly communication and open access publishing.
  • Adept at data visualizations and representations, report writing and the development of a variety of data communications.
