Job Summary
University Libraries encourages applications for an Acquisitions Receiving Technician! The Technician is responsible for receiving library materials in a variety of formats. This includes but is not limited to books, ebooks, streaming videos, maps, special collections materials, foreign language materials, serials, or other formats. Receiving technicians verify that the materials received are what was ordered and inspect them for damage. They import bibliographic records into the catalog and route materials for further processing and payment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Monograph Receiving
- Responsible for receiving functions for monographic and one-time purchase materials by verifying the correct receipt of materials ordered. This may include receiving books, ebooks, streaming videos, maps, special collections materials, foreign language materials, or materials in other formats. This position uses established standards and documentation from Acquisitions and Cataloging to identify appropriate bibliographic records. It also involves reviewing bibliographic elements and routing materials to the appropriate work unit for further processing. Responsible for ensuring that upon completion of receiving functions, invoices are routed appropriately to the Acquisitions Accounting Technician for posting and payment. Consults with the Head of Acquisitions and Accounting, acquisitions, cataloging, preservation, or other appropriate colleagues to resolve issues and questions.
Workflow Documentation
- Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining workflow documentation related to relevant receiving workflows, particularly as FOLIO updates or other external processes or systems change.
Serials Receiving and Gift-in-Kind Processing
- Provides backup support to serials receiving and processes monographic donations. This position will be cross-trained to support other areas of acquisitions as needed.
Professional Development and Continual Learning
- Participates in learning opportunities for workflows in FOLIO, particularly as the system updates and is further developed. May participate in library working groups, task forces, guilds, pods, or committees as appropriate.

The salary range is $38,000-$42,500 annually.

What We Require
- Must be a Colorado resident.
- Two years of proven experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Professional experience working in library acquisitions.
- Familiarity with MARC records, bibliographic information, or bibliographic metadata standards.
- Familiarity with an integrated library system or library services platform such as FOLIO.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite.
