Job Description

Nature of Work The Acquisitions Librarian at the Health Sciences Library (HSL) manages the purchasing, leasing, and acquiring of legal access to information resources in all formats. The position works closely with the Head of Collection Management and the Cataloging and Serials Librarians. This position also collaborates with colleagues from the Downtown Denver Campus, other CU libraries, and other regional institutions in the participation of group purchases. Supervision and Supervisory Responsibilities The Acquisitions Librarian reports to the Head of Collection Management. This position has no routine supervisory responsibilities but may oversee the work of students, volunteers or other staff on committee work, specific projects or as requested. Professional Development The Acquisitions Librarian is expected to assume personal responsibility for designing and implementing a plan for continuing professional development and to actively contribute to the development of health sciences librarianship through scholarly and service activities. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities This position is responsible for all fiscal functions relating to the information resources budget for the library. Specific responsibilities include the following: --Acquire information resources in all formats, process invoices for payment in an online university expense system, and maintain accurate fiscal records. --Monitor expenditure of the information resource budget in PeopleSoft and the III Millennium Acquisitions module. --Communicate with vendors of library resources on behalf of the library. --Work with contract administrators in the university’s Procurement Service Center to process site license agreements. --Collaborate extensively with CU colleagues system-wide on shared purchases. --Process journal renewals through a journal vendor and directly from publishers. --Maintain an electronic resources management system which details vendor contacts, consortium agreements, usage statistics, licensing terms, and other account and subscription information. --Assist the Head of Collection Management in evaluating vendors and resources. --Work with the Serials Librarian and library IT Department to resolve access problems for electronic resources. --Maintain documentation of policies and procedures. --Provide statistical and narrative reports as requested. --Maintain Acquisitions web pages on the library’s intranet. --Participate in library-wide activities, such as serving on library committees and task forces. 00Participate in professional development and service activities.

Other Information Salary level starts at $47,000 and is based on qualifications and experience. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package.
