The Children’s Library is a popular destination for families with indoor and outdoor play spaces. This position works in collaboration with other Library, Arts, History & CSU Extension (LAHE) staff and the Children’s Library team to provide library services to children, parents, and adults who work with children. This position works on the Children’s reference desk for the majority of the assigned hours to assist patrons with using the Children’s Library and to maintain a welcoming and safe environment.

Scope of Work:
- Assist in maintaining library services by performing additional duties assigned by the supervisor, such as planning and presenting storytimes, presenting or staffing Children’s Library programs planned by Children’s Librarian I staff, assisting with tasks related to reading programs, conduct library tours, provide outreach, or assist with collection maintenance and weeding responsibilities.
- Helps maintain Children's library and indoor and outdoor play areas.
- Demonstrates and assists patrons with use of computers and devices.
- Assists parents and other adults in selection of appropriate children's material.
- Assists children in use of the library and its resources.
- Provides reader's advisory service for children and families.
- Is fully present. Gives customers their full attention and demonstrates a commitment to offer responsive customer service.
- Possesses basic knowledge concerning library services which will include practical experience in library services and programs.
