Responsibilities: Serving the public at various service desks, particularly the Circulation Desk. Duties include checking materials in and out, packing and unpacking inter-library loan deliveries, registering patrons to use the library, collecting overdue fines, responding to patron questions and problems, helping patrons find items in the collection, helping patrons use collection resources, both print and online, answering the telephone, registering patrons for programs and shelving returned library materials. Employees in this position also may help with library programming.
Part-time, under 20 hours per week. Schedule includes nights and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; ability to learn, understand and apply standard library principles, methods, techniques and routines. Experience with computers required. Ability to establish and maintain effective personal relationships with the public and with working associates. Physical capacity to work at a library service counter for extended periods and perform some light to medium lifting duties that relate to general library functions.
