Instructional Faculty - Librarian
This position offices in-person, on campus
ROLE SUMMARY
Faculty members at Valor Christian High School are charged with preparing tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ. Valor Faculty live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. Valor Faculty are not only masters of the curriculum, but they see each student as a unique individual to be known and loved. The Instructional Faculty - Librarian supports all aspects of library work and library development, collaborates with faculty across the curriculum, develops students’ information literacy skills, and serves patrons in the library.

- Employ meaningful instructional techniques and texture in the classroom to engage a variety of learning styles and promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and innovation
- Provide a learning environment and library management style built upon mutual respect and conducive to student learning, ensuring that the library is an attractive place for students to study, research, and read.
- Demonstrate God’s love to students through joyful service.
- Work with teaching teams to ensure students develop strong research skills.
- Facilitate appropriate library systems and processes so that the library functions effectively and efficiently, ensuring students receive the support and assistance they need in a timely manner.

RESULTS

- Through interactions with the students and faculty members, students will have the opportunity to experience God’s love and know that God has a plan and purpose for their life

- Through interactions with the librarian, students will have the opportunity to experience God’s love.
- Through librarian instruction, students will develop research skills.
- The librarian's work will enable library systems and processes to function effectively and efficiently.

- The library will be an attractive and welcoming place for students to study, research, and read.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and experience working in a library setting is required.
- Advanced Degree in Library Science area is preferred
- Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding
- Desire to teach and/or experience within Christian education
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
