The Middletown Public Library is looking for a part time Library Assistant to join our fabulous team!  Work in our small but busy library in an exciting time in MPL history - getting to help design and imagine a new library of our dreams! 

This job might be for you if: 
-Your customer service and librarianship is people-centered. 
-You have interest and/or experience with ordering, receiving, processing, and collection management. 
-You have interest and/or knowledge on the current trends in libraries today. 
-Your public service is rooted in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community.   

Qualifications 
This role will be filled by a high school graduate, preferably with two years of college, customer service experience, and/or library experience. The position is a front line customer service position that needs to be able to multitask, be comfortable with using and teaching technology, and enjoy interacting with the public. 

Schedule 25 hours per week and includes nights and weekends – most likely closing one night a week, and working every other Saturday on rotation.  A regular work week is 5 days per week for 5 hours each shift. 

Salary is in accordance with established pay scale, and is $16 an hour to start. 

This is a part time position within the Middletown Public Library Employees Association / NEARI Union, and includes paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.
