The Montrose Regional Library District is seeking a full-time dynamic Head of Teen Services to highlight our unique resources, build relationships, and connect with the teen and teen-serving community.
We value candidates who have a positive and outgoing attitude, are independent self-starters, and are comfortable navigating various settings within the library and community. An ideal candidate possesses strong communication and organizational skills; is comfortable with people of all ages and from all backgrounds; has a passion for programming and outreach; welcomes the opportunity for autonomy and creativity; is empathetic to the teen experience; and is enthusiastic about developing youth leadership potential.
Candidates should have flexibility to work evenings and weekends as assigned, and possess the ability to perform more physically intensive duties, which can include lifting and pushing heavy materials, bending and kneeling, and being mobile for much of the day. Due to the nature of this position, we appreciate a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university and three years of progressively responsible and robust experience in a public library, including supervisory experience and experience working with teens. We offer benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; retirement; and vacation, personal, and sick leave, in addition to holidays. The starting rate for a Head of Teen Services is $51,700 annually, with an additional increase for a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university; we will also provide an increase for proficiency in Spanish.
