Learning Development and Design Librarian

The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) Libraries invites applications from collaborative and innovative candidates for the position of Learning Development and Design Librarian! The Learning Development and Design librarian takes a leading role in coordinating, designing, and distributing discrete, reusable, asynchronous learning objects to meet curricular needs and to enhance students’ information literacies and practices. The position will apply learning design principles in the creation and dissemination of learning objects for various platforms and use cases. The Librarian is an active member of the Learning & Engagement Team, sharing responsibility for designing educationally meaningful programming and learning opportunities. This position participates in team commitments and special projects to enhance learning, literacies, and engagement.  

As a member of the University Libraries faculty, the Learning Development and Design Librarian will be expected to maintain a record of scholarly research/creative work, participate in professional service activities, and actively engage in faculty governance. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity. This is a non-tenure track, Teaching Professor faculty position that will be hired at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank and reports to the Head of the Learning & Engagement section. A typical annual merit formula for teaching professor-track faculty may be 70% librarianship, 10% scholarly and creative work, and 20% service. What We Require

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advocate for an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to carry out project-based work, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Coursework or experience providing instruction, particularly information literacy.
  • Coursework or experience providing reference services.
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly work, and professional achievement.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12 month) non-tenure track faculty member at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank. The salary range for Teaching Assistant Professor is $69,000-$73,000. A candidate with seven or more years of professional experience may be eligible for the rank of Teaching Associate Professor with a starting salary range of $76,000-$81,000.

Relocation assistance may be available within University Libraries guidelines.

Faculty receive limited professional development funds annually.
