
Job Responsibilities will include:
Assisting patrons with checking materials in/out, locating digital, traditional and nontraditional resources, placing holds, providing instruction in basic computer use, photocopying, faxing, scanning documents, shelving and shelf reading, answering phone inquiries, emptying the bookdrop, engaging with patrons as individuals, discussing new services, technologies and materials, taking an active interest in their health, their pets, and their lives. Working annual library events e.g. the Town Tree Lighting, Memorial Day Parade, Trucks of West Greenwich, Family Fun Day, Egg Hunt, etc.
Job Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with programming: moving/rearranging furnishings and equipment, lifting 25# boxes of books and other projects reflecting the skills and talents of the applicant.
Preferred schedule: (3) Fridays and (1) Saturday per month, (1) evening per week, opportunities for additional hours
Benefits are available after a six month probationary period.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Facebook, Instagram, Koha/Aspen, and Canva, familiarity with e-readers, curiosity with technology, common sense, flexibility, and facility with a toilet plunger are required.
Louttit Library serves a primary population of 6,400 at our small, rural, historic, and cozy space in West Greenwich. As a staff, we focus on serving the broader needs of our patrons, beyond traditional library circulation functions. We are looking for a friendly, earnest and empathetic person with an interest in providing and expanding traditional, digital and programming services to our community.
