Looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, visionary leader who welcomes the challenge of providing excellent library services in a rural setting. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, including candidates with less traditional backgrounds. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.

The Community

Grand County, Colorado, is located west of the Continental Divide, between Berthoud Pass and the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park on the east side, and Gore Pass and Rabbit Ears Pass on the west. The county is 1870 square miles in size and has around 15,000 residents, encompassing the towns of Granby, Grand Lake, Kremmling, Fraser, Winter Park, Hot Sulphur Springs, Tabernash, and Parshall. There are five libraries, located in Granby, Grand Lake (Juniper), Fraser (Fraser Valley), Hot Sulphur Springs, and Kremmling. The Library District also maintains a substantial online library through multiple platforms. Library administrative offices are in Granby.

Grand County Library District was established in 1994 under Colorado Library Law (CRS 24-90-101 et seq). A property tax mil levy of 2.41 was approved by the voters of Grand County to establish funds for the Library District to provide free access to library services.

GCLD operates under a governing board of seven trustees, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Trustee appointments in Grand County are chosen to reflect the three voting districts: East, Central, and West, providing a voice and representation for

each area. The Board’s duties involve governing and directing from a District-wide vantage point, with responsibility for the adoption and implementation of library policies, ensuring library properties are managed appropriately, employing a Library Director and directing the responsible fiscal management of Library funds through the budgetary process.

Although 95% of GCLD’s funding is through property taxes, other sources of revenue include grants, donations from the Friends of Grand County Library and the Grand County Library Foundation, and private donations.
