
Support the Upper San Juan Library District’s mission through preparation of proposals and grant applications along with identification, cultivation and establishment of strong donor relationships to build resources that will support capital, program, service, and material needs. Provide leadership and direction for the Ruby Sisson Library Foundation & Friends. Implement complex and creative development programs that identify, prioritize, and achieve fundraising objectives. Implement Friends of the Library programming.

- Oversee the completion of the Mountains of Opportunity building campaign to expand and renovate the Ruby Sisson Library.
- Identify funding sources and prepare grant applications; coordinate and track grants and complete all required grant reporting.
- Lead the Foundation Board of Directors to develop and implement fundraising initiatives to support programs, services, and resources that serve the Library’s mission, vision, and values.
- Create a timeline for solicitations that includes mailings, personal visits, grants deadlines, events and other projects.
- Develop an annual budget to meet fundraising goals for capital campaigns, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and legacy giving programs.
- Develop and implement an annual marketing plan to promote the Library’s services and resources to the community, aiming to increase patron engagement, awareness and funds.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors. Ensure donors are kept informed about Foundation and Library goals and specific events or activities.
- Build programs and fundraising events that support the Library and Foundation goals. Manage event logistics and oversee volunteer planning committees.
- Work with Foundation and Library leaders to identify and attract board members who can help carry out fundraising goals. Actively develop and maintain Foundation Board member relationships and provide appropriate education to strengthen and expand Board members’ fundraising skills and contacts. Convene committees as needed.
- Attend Foundation and Library District board meetings. Attend other meetings in support of the Library Foundation as requested.
- Work closely with the Friends of the Library committee to meet their annual goals and objectives.
- Oversee all administrative duties related to the Library Foundation & Friends, including recommending and establishing policies and procedures for the Foundation in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, marketing, communications or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Grant-writing experience.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience developing and managing strategies/goals, programs, and budgets.
Pagosa Springs is a town in southwest Colorado known for its hot springs. It’s surrounded by the rugged San Juan Mountains and vast areas of national forest. The San Juan River, with its abundant trout, runs through town. To the northeast, Wolf Creek Ski Area offers downhill runs and cross-country trails. Southwest, Chimney Rock National Monument features the ruins of ancient Ancestral Puebloan dwellings.
