Job Description

Job Responsibilities: • Serve as the primary contact for current programs such as the OCLC GSA contract, ListenAlaska, Playaway lending collections, reciprocal borrowing, SLED and the Digital Pipeline (sled.alaska.edu). • Meet regularly with the ALN Board of Directors. Consult and cooperate with the members of ALN, the Alaska State Library staff, and key agencies of the state government. • Develop and manage new projects and programs on behalf of the network members. • Investigate opportunities for cooperative projects with partner organizations such as schools, museums and others to address the diverse interests and needs of Alaskans. • Develop and improve cost saving measures for libraries such as leveraging group licensing for digital collections. • Develops relationships with vendors to provide discounts for members for equipment, supplies, and other materials. • Evaluate network operations, services and programs in response to the needs of ALN members. • Create a marketing plan and direct public relation activities on behalf of the network and its members. • Create an advocacy campaign to demonstrate the effectiveness and accountability of Alaska’s libraries. • Communicate with the network’s members on a regular basis. • Seek out grant opportunities and as necessary prepare grant applications. • Assist the Board in developing and updating the long-range plan for ALN and monitor its progress.

While this is a term faculty position, it will be renewed depending on future grant fundingRequirements of the job: Master’s degree from an accredited college in library or information science, media services, or closely related field. Two years minimum of professional library experience at the manager level. Working knowledge of current library technologies. Preferred Experience: Experience working with library consortia and/or other collaborative projects. Experience working with a policy-making board. Background in financial management of non-profit organizations. Working knowledge of grant administration.
