Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual hired for this position will be responsible for: 1. Supervision of staff: In absence of Director, apply Library policies to situations that occur, and make decisions based on those policies. Act as supervisor for Work/Study student assistants assigned to the Library. 2. Actively promote the use of library resources and services by assisting faculty in identifying, locating, acquiring, offering, and using library resources and services to support classroom instruction; be an effective liaison to faculty on both campuses. 3. Bibliographic Instruction program: Develop and implement program to promote more effective uses of learning resources. This includes acting as liaison with faculty, designing materials for classroom and library use, lecturing in the classroom and demonstrating library tools, and evaluating the program. This also includes developing and implementing materials for distance learning. 4. Provide reference/research assistance to students, faculty, staff and the community, using electronic, print, and media-based materials and resources at the CCCC Library. 5. Collection development, acquisition, and cataloging: Assist the Director in materials selection in accordance with the Library’s current collection development policy. Catalog newly acquired materials to blend with the collection’s current classification system. Perform original bibliographic cataloging for materials that are not found in the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) catalog. 6. Computer applications: Act as liaison with vendors (both hardware and software); troubleshoot problems that occur; assist users in developing appropriate search strategies for locating information and with personal computing applications; develop applications for the organization of information in the Library; and maintain library automation system for seamless access to internal and external information retrieval sources. 7. Daily operations: Assist in the daily operations of the library and the AV Lab to ensure the smooth operations of the library to effectively serve the students, faculty, staff and the community. Training and understanding of the Audiovisual Lab policies and procedures will be necessary to provide assistance as needed in that department. 8. Participate in appropriate committees and work groups representing the Library as assigned. 9. Interact cordially with coworkers to accomplish common tasks. 10. Must be flexible in adapting to changes in schedules and locations and be available to work evenings and weekends and travel to other campus locations as needed. 11. Other responsibilities: Assist Director with various tasks such as policy writing, research on work-related topics, Web page development and other tasks as assigned.

Librarian. Cloud County Community College seeks a Librarian. Master’s degree in Library Science or related field is required. Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and computer applications experience. Two years of library experience, experience in database and web page development, collection development and cataloging, library instruction, and experience with office and audiovisual equipment is preferred. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. This is a full-time, non-tenured, 12-month, KPERS-covered position with fringe benefits.
