The Branch Manager manages and evaluates all aspects of the operations in the library branch. These include setting branch objectives, managing and developing the branch staff and volunteers, interactions with the public and overseeing the care and maintenance of branch facilities. The Branch Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the branch budget, the condition of the collection and interactions and collaborations with local organizations and non-profits. The Branch Manager operates under the guidance of the Assistant Library Director and collaborates closely with the other Library Branch Managers and the Library Administrative team.

NATURE OF WORK:
Manages the operations of a full-service branch library and coordinates with the Assistant Library Director, and the Summit County Library Admin team on library services and programs.
Works under the direction of the Assistant Library Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
The incumbent in this position must be able to successfully perform the following essential job functions and duties:PUBLIC SERVICE MANAGEMENT – Identifies objectives for the operation of the branch to compliment the goals of the Summit County Library. Working with the Assistant Library Director, develops, implements, and evaluates concepts, practices, and innovations to improve the quality of service, challenges operating processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness, and facilitates problem-solving. Manages the branch facilities and works with the County Facilities Department to resolve building concerns.
SUPERVISION OF STAFF – Sets objectives, organizes resources, and develops procedures. Provides staff with appropriate training, coaching and mentoring while giving feedback/evaluations. Staff management: meetings, training and coaching is directed towards encouraging exemplary staff performance and collaborative branch efforts. Manages branch schedules and timesheets for staff including Library Technicians, Substitute Librarians and Volunteers.
COORDINATION OF PRIORITIES – Collaborates with Admin team, and staff to coordinate strategic priority efforts; establishes effective workgroups and uses project management and evaluation tools to accomplish and implement projects, initiatives, and strategies.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – Manages a branch-operating budget, co-ordinates with Collection Manager to oversee collection management. Allocates staff time to accomplish Library programming goals, branch programs, outreach and collaborations.
PUBLIC RELATIONS – Represents the Library to community, local non-profits, business, and social groups, and associations through meetings, public speaking engagements, committee participation and provides responses to complaints and compliments expressed by the public. Uses a variety of social media tools and design tools to market Library events.
CUSTOMER SERVICE – Resolves patron complaints; assists patrons in the use of library materials and technology, accessing databases, and navigating the Internet to locate resources in the collection, library databases and the internet.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Oversee circulation desk, checking materials in and out, handling patron complaints
· Attend Library Staff meetings
· Attend Library conferences, trainings and takes County trainings
· Keep library statistics: door count and usage of various equipment and services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of: General library procedures; MS Excel, MSWord, CANVA, library circulation software (Sierra) and Midas software, library databases and the internet
· Ability to: Provide quality customer service to all residents and visitors to Summit County, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, exhibit patience and calm in difficult situations, maintain confidentiality, adapt to change, take initiative and follow through on projects, effectively utilize Microsoft Word & Excel, library circulation software and databases, interact with public and County employees in a positive and informed manner. Ability and commitment to support the County leadership goals and organizational needs.
· Skills: Writing and speaking skills, effective use of Word & Excel, knowledge of library specific software, Powerpoint and good administrative skills.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used: Personal computers; copiers, smartboards library circulation and electronic databases, Zoom, Word, Outlook, Excel, Midas, portable devices and how to download to them and the internet.

Working Environment/Physical Demands: A majority of work is performed indoors at one of the assigned library branches in: Breckenridge, Silverthorne or Frisco. Sometimes sedentary at a desk, exerting up to 10 - 20 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Working circulation desk may need to lift up to15- 30 pounds. Physical activities include moving about the library building, frequent sitting, standing, squatting, walking, bending while maintaining equilibrium, climb, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl, twisting, and stooping; reaching above shoulder height; upward and downward flexion of the neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to manipulate keyboard controls, equipment controls, and other office equipment; pinch grasp to manipulate writing utensils; moderate grasping to manipulate books and library materials; side-to-side turning of neck; moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials; reading, writing, typing, verbal/audible communication, and visually observing situations. A high degree of public contact, including interaction with walk-in customers is required. May need to use personal vehicle.
Environmental factors would include limited exposure to weather conditions; working closely with others in a close library setting; working with library equipment; and exposure to noise.
Interpersonal communications include contact with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered or presented.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:
College Degree, at least 3 years of library experience preferred
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
· Valid Colorado Driver's License at time of appointment and throughout employment.
