Job Description
  • Provide research and information literacy services for students and faculty.
    • Serve as a liaison to academic departments, including Sociology and Anthropology, Race, Ethnic, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the First Year Experience program, partnering with faculty and academic staff to plan and deliver course-integrated instruction, both in person and online, in information literacy, research practices, and other literacies (where appropriate).
    • Coordinate assessment practices among the Research and Instructional Technology team, using learning outcomes associated with the LITS literacies framework, to promote student success.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to support instructional design, digital assignments, and other teaching and research initiatives.
    • Provide research assistance to library patrons onsite and online.
    • Explore and implement innovative methods for outreach and student engagement via LITS instruction and programming opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) staff and other campus partners to develop and sustain LITS student-focused services and resources.
    • Identify, create, test, and implement new services and resources to meet emerging and evolving student needs.
    • Serve on intercollegial teams, task forces, and working groups as projects and initiatives require.
    • Serve on the Events and Engagement Team to promote services and represent the libraries and IT, including creating media, planning & leading events, contributing ideas, and helping to steer the Events and Engagement team to make the libraries a welcoming place for students.
    • Serve as a liaison to campus partners, including the Academic Success Center, Piper Center for Vocation and Career, Academic Civic Engagement, Smith, Taylor, Wellness, and Lutheran Centers, as well as Athletics.
    • Work as a member of the Bridge Consortium, collaborating in tandem with peers at Carleton College, to ensure that work is not duplicated and that costs are contained or reduced; participate in all appropriate Bridge working groups, meetings, and functions; and may provide services to Carleton College.
