Job Description
Libraries are a catalyst for increased student achievement and lifelong learning. This position is responsible for maintaining online library that offers full library services to online students seeking undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The online library directly supports instructional needs of the university students and faculty, distance education and lifelong learning. Is accountable for assuring consistently high levels of integrity across all interactions, activities and data throughout the University. Maintenance and administration of current online library resources and functionality. Provide access to information and ideas by directing students to current resources that support the curriculum. Continued development of online library resources in conjunction with Faculty Development, Course Development and Web Development teams. Promote and encourage the ethical use of information by students and faculty. Develop and execute library promotional initiatives in coordination with Course and Web Development teams. Facilitate information literacy as the ability to identify information needs, seek out resources to meet those needs, analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and communicate the resulting knowledge. Develop effective plans and processes to provide library resources which support the university mission and program objectives. Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of library resources in meeting instructional objectives. Communication with online students and faculty for online library orientation and research needs. Maintain records and statistics related to the online library collection/access development and usage to meet all regulatory reporting requirements. Provide subject matter consultation to annual budget and strategic planning process regarding online library development. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate student and department needs. This may include working more than 40 hours per week. Manages to all AIU policies, procedures, integrity and ethical standards. Provide support to CTUO and IADTO students EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Profound commitment to service. Strong technology skills needed to provide innovative library services, student support for electronic databases and other electronic Web-based library resources. Willingness and ability to work the hours necessary to accomplish the assigned duties. Strong communication skills and a desire to ensure student success Skills to establish and maintain effective relationships Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in use of MS Word, MS Excel and ability to analyze data Organizational and time management skills Master’s of Library Science degree required. MLS degree from an American Library Association accredited program preferred. Five years experience in academic or public library. Experience with American Library Association standards and national/regional accreditation standards preferred. Educational background, knowledge, or experience in undergraduate and graduate curriculum areas that include one or more of the following: business, information technology, education, or visual communication.HR Info
