Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Academic Success Librarian collaborates with university faculty, students and staff to support campus-wide initiatives in research and teaching and learning. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively with library colleagues and campus partners to contribute to a shared vision of the Ottenheimer Library's role in academic success. This position holds a 12-month faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides student research support in-person and online as part of a collaborative service model.

Provides instructional services, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning sessions and other innovative approaches to develop information literacy, research, critical thinking, and technology skills.

Serves as liaison and actively develops relationships with faculty, students, and staff within the Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Collaborates with faculty and other campus partners to integrate affordable course content (ACC) and open educational resources (OER) into courses and create learner experiences that integrate active and inclusive learning strategies into learner experiences.

Promotes open scholarship though faculty and student engagement with the library’s open access (OA) and institutional repository (IR) initiatives.

Participates in assessment efforts, focusing on the library's impact on academic success and student learning outcomes.

Engages in scholarly, professional and service activities in accordance with university and library promotion and tenure guidelines.

Works occasional evening and weekend hours to support instructional sessions or library events.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to support students and faculty in the areas of liaison responsibility.

Experience in the provision of research assistance and/or instruction in an academic library.

Knowledge of trends in digital scholarship, including open access, institutional repository and research impact librarianship.

Understanding of assessment methods and ability to put these methods into practice.

Superior written and oral communication skills.
