Job Description

Job Description: You are a wizard that creates magic with technology; your skills create a seamless technology infrastructure that supports the practical and visionary needs of a cutting-edge library. When it comes to running a technology organization, you can do it all. You’ve got everything it takes to manage people, projects, deadlines, events and ideas with a winning style and assurance. As a member of the support services team, you understand that staff are your customers as much as the public who walk through the library doors. Ready to join in a bold opportunity to help us take community library services to an entirely new dynamic realm? Who you are: •You are a great manager. •You are a hands-on technology guru; you see the big picture as well as provide leadership and technological expertise for our district. •You feel equally rewarded whether you are rolling up your shelves to set up a PC or sitting behind your desk managing your people and projects. •You have always wanted to work for an organization that wants to innovate through technology. •You are a lot of things to a lot of people – coach, leader, partner, and positive motivator. •You are an effective communicator, able to lead meetings and relay pertinent information. •You engage well with others and are passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience. •You’re a team player who thinks quickly on your feet. •You are patient and an active listener. •You’re excited about leading others in a changing environment. •You inspire fun in the people around you. Your vision: •You understand “the big picture.” •You embrace the library district’s vision and can apply it to your daily operations and team. •You are the mastermind behind developing the vision for the technology group as well as manage the IT functions to include System/Networking Administration, DBA, help desk, email, PC, Mac and printer support. •You take ownership for your library technology operations – managing a team of people and vendors to oversee technology operations so that public and staff have the technology tools they need. •You are an explorer of emerging technologies; you take the lead on the implementation of a new Integrated Library System and coordinate the ongoing maintenance of the chosen system. •You have the energy to juggle many tasks with a smile, and you realize you have many people depending on you. •You understand in the technology world you are pulled in many different directions. Your natural management instincts drive you to set priorities and solve problems effectively. •You are a genius at recruiting, hiring, and retaining a diverse and brilliant group of technology employees. •You are a wizard at coaching and training your super-talented technology team honestly, directly, and consistently to achieve new levels of success. •You demonstrate excellent communication skills with staff, customers, vendors, and district leadership. •You develop technology policy and procedures as well as ensure compliance with all state and federal library technology requirements. •You think like an entrepreneur. You understand budgeting and what it takes to run your organization responsibly with a great bottom line. •You do the right thing. Every decision you make and action you take is an opportunity to demonstrate our collective integrity. •You are excited about emerging technologies and their role in the library world. •You realize you’re technology royalty but you are ruled by your playful and friendly style.

Additional Info & Requirements
