POSITION AVAILABLE: Library System Technical Services Manager
The Traverse des Sioux Library System is seeking a Technical Services Manager for a challenging position in a library system that serves libraries in a nine-county area around Mankato, Minnesota.
Position Summary
The Technical Services Librarian’s primary responsibility is supervising the services and staff of the Technical Services Department, including cataloging, interlibrary loan, and delivery.
The Technical Services Librarian’s primary cataloging responsibility is to coordinate the cataloging and classification activities for member libraries. Responsible for cataloging workflow, developing or revising policies and procedures, identifying and resolving bibliographic and holdings problems, and maintaining the database of the regional automated catalog.
The Technical Services Librarian’s primary interlibrary loan responsibility is to manage the efficient processing of interlibrary loan requests to and from member libraries and libraries outside of the region. Coordinates the delivery of materials within the nine-county southcentral MN area and facilitates the exchange of materials between regions within the state.
Qualifications
· A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science
· Five years’ experience in cataloging services in an automated environment.
· Strong working knowledge of cataloging using AACR2, MARC 21, the Library of Congress Subject Headings, the Dewey Decimal Classification System, OCLC software, and current cataloging rules and standards for all formats.
· Experience with original cataloging in all formats and standards.
· Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
· One year of supervisory experience.
· Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
· Cooperation, teamwork, and collaboration skills are essential.
Salary range: $72,800 to $94,640 annually, depending on experience. Generous benefits, leave, and retirement policies offered.
